Propylene Glycol

(57-55-6)
Propylene glycol has good solubility and less toxicity and irritation, and is widely used as solvents, extraction solvents and preservatives for injections (eg. intramuscular injections, intravenous injections) and non-injectable pharmaceutical preparations (such as oral liquid, ophthalmic preparations, otic preparations, dental preparations, rectovaginal preparations, transdermal preparations, etc.). It is better than glycerol solvent and can dissolve many substances such as corticosteroids (se

Pentane

(109-66-0)
Pentane is an organic compound with the formula C5H12 — that is, an alkane with five carbon atoms. The term may refer to any of three structural isomers, or to a mixture of them: in the IUPAC nomenclature, however, pentane means exclusively the n-pentane isomer; the other two are called isopentane (methylbutane) and neopentane (dimethylpropane). Cyclopentane is not an isomer of pentane because it has only 10 hydrogen atoms where pentane has 12.Pentanes are components of some fuels and are employ

Propylene carbonate

(108-32-7)
As a high-efficiency solvent, it can be used to remove carbon dioxide from petroleum gas, petroleum cracking gas, oil field gas and ammonia synthesis gas. It can also be used as plasticizer, spinning solvent or water-soluble dye, pigment dispersant, oily solvent and Extractant for olefins and aromatics.

Propyl acetate

(109-60-4)
Propyl acetate, also known as propyl ethanoate, is a chemical compound used as a solvent and an example of an ester. This clear, colorless liquid is known by its characteristic odor of pears. Due to this fact, it is commonly used in fragrances and as a flavor additive. It is formed by the esterification of acetic acid and 1-propanol (known as a condensation reaction), often via Fischer–Speier esterification, with sulfuric acid as a catalyst and water produced as a byproduct.

Paraffin oils

(8012-95-1)
Medicinal liquid paraffin, also known as paraffinum liquidum, is a very highly refined mineral oil used in cosmetics and for medical purposes. This is a UK definition (British Pharmacopoeia) and the term may have different uses in other countries. The cosmetic or medicinal liquid paraffin should not be confused with the paraffin (or kerosene) used as a fuel. The term paraffinum perliquidum is sometimes used to denote light liquid paraffin. Conversely, the term 'paraffinum subliquidum is sometimes

Dissolving agents refer to substances used in cosmetics to dissolve other components, aiding in the formulation process and ensuring product homogeneity. According to its chemical nature, dissolving agents can be categorized into polar and nonpolar solvents. According to volatility, dissolving agents can be further classified into volatile solvents and nonvolatile solvents. According to safety considerations, dissolving agents can be divided into food-grade or cosmetic-grade solvents. "Dissolving agents" on ECHEMl mainly supply raw materials for dissolving agents.

More Information

Dissolving agents aid in the solubilization of various ingredients to create effective and stable products. These agents, often referred to as solvents, are substances capable of dissolving other substances, enabling the homogeneous dispersion of active compounds within cosmetic formulations.

The principle behind dissolving agents lies in their ability to break down molecular bonds within substances, allowing them to mix uniformly with other ingredients. Alcohol is a common dissolving agent in skincare products, but it's not the high concentration (75%) medical disinfectant alcohol we typically imagine. In cosmetics, its content is strictly controlled to around 2%, which is almost negligible. Unless someone has a particularly sensitive reaction to alcohol, it's generally safe to use.

Common solvents include:

•Water

•Ethanol

•Glycerin
