Grignard Reagent is an organometallic compound containing magnesium halide, which belongs to nucleophilic reagent due to its negative carbon ion. It was discovered by French chemist Fran & ccedil; OIS Auguste Victor Grignard. There are two kinds of Grignard reagents: 1. Chlorobenzene (benzyl chloride) reacts with magnesium in the presence of ether (tetrahydrofuran); 2. Cyclopentane bromide reacts with magnesium (zinc) in the presence of ether (tetrahydrofuran).
