Ferric phosphate coatings are often used in the preparation of paint or powder coating to increase adhesion to iron or steel substrates and prevent corrosion, which can cause premature failure of subsequent coating processes. It can also be used to bond fabrics, wood, and other materials to iron or steel surfaces. Not only that, ferric phosphate is used to make lithium iron phosphate, the positive electrode of lithium iron phosphate batteries. Finally, ferric phosphate is one of the few molluscicides approved for use in organic agriculture. Insecticide granules contain ferric phosphate and chelating agents such as EDTA.
