Opacifying agents refer to substances used to reduce the transparency or translucency of cosmetics. According to their composition, opacifying agents can be categorized into mineral-based agents, such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, which scatter light to create opacity; organic-based agents, such as polymethylsilsesquioxane, which absorb and reflect light to reduce transparency; and synthetic-based agents, such as nylon powder, which create a matte finish to diminish translucency.
