According to the latest news from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) of the European Union, on September 20, 2024, the European Union issued a notification about the substandard xanthan gum products exported by our country. Details are as follows:
Time of notification: September 20, 2024
Country of notification: Poland
Notified Product: Xanthan gum
Notification number: 2024.7025
Reason for notification: The xanthan gum product in this batch was found to contain excessive ethylene oxide, with a specific value of 0.19 ± 0.04 mg/kg, while the maximum residue limit stipulated by the EU is 0.1 mg/kg.
Sales Status and actions taken: This product is not yet on the market and has been returned to the shipper and will be redelivered.
Type of notification: Notification of refusal of entry
This notification means that this batch of xanthan gum products cannot be placed on the Polish market because they do not meet EU safety standards. The EU has taken strict measures to ensure that non-conforming products do not pose a potential risk to consumers. At the same time, it also reminds China's relevant export enterprises must strictly comply with the food safety standards of the importing country, ensure product quality, and avoid similar nonconformity.
