Canada Reassesses Insecticide Ingredient: The Future of Methylcyclopentene is Uncertain!

ECHEMI 2024-09-25

On September 24, 2024, Health Canada published Consultation document PRVD2024-05, in which the Pest Management Agency (PMRA) announced that it will conduct a reassessment of 3-methyl-2-cyclohexen-1-one and its related end-use products.

It is reported that methylcyclohexenone is an anti-gathering pheromone (information chemical) registered as an insect repellent, and its main use is to prevent the harm of Douglas pine beetles, turpentine beetles, spruce beetles and red fat beetles.

The public comment period for this registration is from September 24, 2024 to December 23, 2024.
